- haiku poem about softball

Haiku

I don’t really play
But I guess it was cool-ish
I hit the ball once

It didn’t go far
But I did get to first base
Which was somewhat cool

-

The ball came rushing
The bat I held swung forward
I stand silently

And then I take off
My feet run towards first base
I make the first base

🍍 'feelings' about term two

Term two for me so far is like I never left, even when I think back to the holidays it feels somehow, I never left. Even with the new class set up, it feels the same. Same teachers, same technology, same students, but we do have a new student, so I guess that’s kind of different, but not by much. It’s really funny how I can spend two weeks away from a place that I spend half of my year and not miss it, well I missed it a bit, kind of.

During the holidays is like I have no purpose other than doing what I want, which is strange for me, since i’m so use to being told what to do. Anyway I guess being back at school is nice, instead of being locked in my room with my eyes glues to a screen. My mum says that i’ll probably have horrible vision when I grow up, but I just answer with a nice, short, sweet “Whatever”. That’s pretty much it, it’s only the second day of school so there’s not much to say.

Alan Duff Visit - Recount

Today we were very fortunate to have Alan Duff, a very famous author come to our school and talk to us. He asked what our dreams are, and he also talked about his book ‘Maori Heroes’. He told us how he first started the Duffy foundation, just by asking a class who might have Duffy books then bringing them back a bunch of books. Honestly, I never knew that the Duffy foundation was actually named by Alan Duff, but now that I do i’m glad because he seems like a very nice person. It also surprised me that he traveled so far just to talk to us, and tell us some of his life experience, but again i’m glad he did. I hope to meet him again!

During the weekend. . .

During the weekend it wasn’t very interesting, on Friday I went to my dads and we watched old movies. My favourite movie was Percy Jackson the lightning thief, I am really addicted to that movie and can’t wait to watch the sequel.

The next morning my mum picked us up and went back home, she was at my aunt's birthday party. When we got home it wasn’t any interestinger we watched tv and hanged out with each other.

On Sunday my brother, sister, and my mum went shopping for shoes and clothes while I stayed home because I was sick, and because they left when I was sleeping. When I woke up my auntie Gina and Rosie were visiting. When my mum and sibling finally got home my nana, aunts, and mum played a game of cards.

My aunts stayed for dinner which was chinese and helped wash the dishes etc. After that we watched tv and then went to sleep.

Writting Narrative

One sunny day a girl named Winter went on a family holiday with her parents old friends. They drive for about for two hours to a forest, there were two cabins one for the kids and three other for the parents.

When the other family arrive they all introduce Winter and her brother Andrew. Winter meet her best friend from when she was younger,  Scarlett who tackled Winter with a hug and they caught up. Andrew and Scarlett’s brother, who instantly become best friends.

The two families stayed at the cabins for two weeks when they left, Scarlett, Winter, Andrew and   promised to star in touch. They kept to their promise and every friday they meet at either ones house.

They were best friends for life and nothing could ever change that.

About Me

Talofa Lava everyone, my name is Danielle and I am a 12 year old girl nothing really special about me, I am just your average, typical pre-teen.

Well I’m a human girl from planet earth, I live in New Zealand it is such a nice country and yes I am a Kiwi (from New Zealand). I was born on June the 19th 2001, again my name is Danielle I was named after my Dad his name is Dan. The reason I am writing this just incase you wanted to know a little bit about my life.

I would say that I have quite a lot of family. I love them to bits and pieces. They aren't perfect neither am I, but they’re good enough for me. I really love school, but not everyone loves it but I do, I guess one of my dreams is to work with animals I have always loved them.

To start off with i am the middle child the one and only. I had a older brother his name was Trent but he died of cot death, unfortunately i was not able to meet him he would be 18 by now but, back to my family the next eldest is my older sister Taniesha she is 17 then it’s me Danielle oh and i’m 12, after that it’s my little brother Jahsiah and he’s 10. Next my youngest sister Cherise she 8 and that pretty much is all my siblings. Then there is my Mum and my Dad, my mum’s name is Kim and my Dad’s name is Dan. I have a lot more family than that but you would be here till tomorrow so that will be enough for now.

I have been to a few schools three to be exact and as you know love school I have no idea why I just do, my favourite subjects are reading and maths. I'ma year 7 so one more year and I’m gone to college yay.

First of all I have always had this passion and love for animals, since I was little I had this dream to help and care for animals. I just hate seeing animals get hurt, I also just love helping people like when I was a kid i use to play doctor with my older sister. i also have a dream to go to other country’s and help children and care for them like there my brother or sister.

Just imagining where I will be in a few years, off to college hopefully fulfilling my hopes and dreams. I will never forget the schools I went to because they are a big part of my life now because they have taught me most of the stuff I know today. Well that is it i can’t go on and on saying every single detail of my life because we will be here till next week because everyday is another memory.

Don’t cry over the past, it’s gone. Don’t stress about the future, it hasn’t arrived. I live in the present, I make it beautiful.

It was a Dark Cold Night

It was a dark cold night, the horrifying  sound of a person being dragged across the cold wooden floor. I heard a person cry and scream in terror, I had heard this voice before I was on the edge to go open the door. Am I just being silly I thought, I slowly stood up being a brave as I could be.  I was certain I’ve heard this voice before, I’m at the door I was about to turn the doorknob and then “Don’t open the door it’s a trick,” said a quiet whisper, “Who is that,” I whispered puzzled. The voice didn’t answer me now I know I’m  definitely crazy. I thought I was crazy so everything that I heard was made up so I turned the doorknob knowing nothing will happen.

“What did you do you have made a mistake it isn’t too late shut the door and lock it before it comes,” whispered the voice. “Who are you, you’re not even real so get out of my head ,“ I said so angry and frustrated. I looked down the passage there was a dark shadow just standing there I didn’t know what I should do. It started running towards me, I turned and ran into my room I locked the door like the whisper told me to. “Hello,” I said thinking I am getting crazy by the minute. “Know do you believe?,” the voice said. “Yes, yes what do I have to do to rid of it i’ll do anything,  just please help me,” I said begging the whisper. “First you have to promise you’ll do everything I tell you to do,” the whisper said really seriously. “Yes anything,” I said not being certain of what I’m getting into.

“You need a weapon,” said the whisper, “Done,” I said opening my draw and slowly taking out a the gun my dad hid in my draw incase something like this ever happened. “What’s next,” I said. “Forget what I said before you need to get out of your room and get to the biggest room in this house,” said the whisper, “Are you sure there is no other way,” I said really scared what I was about to hear. “Yes!,” the voice shouted. I opened the door with the gun tightly gripped in my right hand I looked across the passage there was no one, “Run,” said the whisper. I ran to my parents room shut the door behind me and locked it.

“What’s next,” I said I was all ready to get this over and done with. “You have to jump out of the window and run to your neighbours,” said the whisper. Before she could even change her mind she found herself outside on the porch, so she ran to her neighbours and asked them to call the cops. Red and blue flashing lights outside of my house, there was a cop asking me questions what happened. After she asked me the questions she went and started to check the house with the other cops. The lady walked out with a gun in a plastic bag and with my parents at the back of her. The cop walked over to her “Tell your daughter what you told me,” said the cop. “Ahh well we were in our room when we heard Marissa screaming and shouting we looked at the door and then she ran into her room she was talking to herself and then she ran into our room with a gun, we were telling her to drop it she did but, then she jumped out of the window and ran to the neighbors,” my mum said, really certain what happened. “And then we saw the cops,” my dad said. “That’s not what happened and what are you guys doing here you should be in paris,” I said. My mum looked at the cop, the cop took me to a police car and next thing I knew I was in mental hospital.

From that day on I knew my Mum and Dad set me up, they never really liked me.......

Rock Warriors

Thursday August 2 2012.
The Rock Warriors
Retold by Danielle Azaria Mailata

Many many years ago, there lived two tribes on Ngongotaha Mountain. There were handsome and beautiful woman, gentlemen and children, but the other tribe were giants called Tipua people and they were smelly and yucky.

One day the Tipua warriors were planning to take over the Patupaiarehe people’s village. The people of the Patupaiarehe could feel thumping and so one of the people ran up to see what all the noise was and they  saw that it was the giant warriors. The people ran to their leader so that he could help them because their leader knew how to use magic spells and he was very good at it.

The chief had a plan. He went to the top of the Ngongotaha mountain and made a fire and started to chant an old spell that he learnt when he was a kid. He did not know if this would work but he tried his hardest.  When the Tipua Warriors stopped to have a rest they stood there too long and became stuck and their skin started to get stiff and hard and they soon realised that the spell had worked and they turned into rocks.

Some people say that on a sunny and cold day, they can hear the rock warriors moaning, probably because they are so uncomfortable from standing in the same spot for a very long time..

How to Write a Good Comment

LI: to write blog comments that will help us with our thinking and our writing.

Why this is a Good Comment:
Question: Could you tell us what that word meant it would really help?
Thoughtful: I thought that you are very smart to use all those different vocabulary's bu t there was one word that I didn't know.
Experienced Similar: When I was younger I experienced this when I was 9 when I did Roots of Empathy.

Why this is a good comment:
Because it will help the author to improve his post and I can Relate to their experience and I have a Question

Diary

19th March Monday 2012.

Saturday was almost the weekend I have ever had you know why because I went to the
Polyfest the Polyfest is just like pasifika but the reason why they do Polyfest is so that all the collages come together and have a big comp. Most of the day I just sate down under my old friends tent she is selling stake and egg, water Mellon and ice-cream and my most favourite poke poke is baked banana and coconut cream.

Before we went to the Cook Island Stage we went to the Tongan and Maori Stage when me and my mum went to the Tongan Stage no one was performing so we went to the Maori Stage the Maori Stage was very very gross because I don’t really like the traditional clothing for boys it is almost nothing but the song they were sinning was o.k. After we went to my Aunty Gina's in old pap so that my mum could get something filled out that was about 1 hour and a half after that we went to my Aunty Rosie’s that was about half an hour just to try on some dresses.

8/3/12 Rainy day My Diary

Today we went to the pools I was very tired and I felt like I was going to fall down (just joking ). It was really damp and cold, it was also raining that made it even worse. We had a new instructor because every Tuesday and Thursday the instructors change so they can have a break.

It was fun at the pools because we had a little race so that we could see who was the speediest team. Because our group are the best swimmers in the whole class. The highlighted words are adjectives.
