Prize giving
It was a warm and breezy Tuesday morning when Glenbrae School had their very special prize giving assembly. All of the students lined up in a straight line and waited till they could go into the hall. Finally we could go in after we sat down about five minutes later the assembly had started. First we sang a song called Ate ha Mori ora that last for 3 minutes and then we sat. Everyone staring at Miss Elia as she says, "Room7 will be the first class for the awards" All of the students in Room7 looking around. "This award is for Danielle Mailata Top Acadimic girl" Miss says clearly and I pause and then walk to the stage.

An Ode about Martin
LI:To write an Ode
An Ode about Martin Luther King
O’ Martin Luther King
Your glasses were so old but you were so young you past as a great man smiles never end
your eyes lit up the room
as you told us about your dream
You made me think I had a place in this world
You were a great pastor to your church, You told them all about your dream, that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed, you were truly a saint
You were my inspiration to never give up and listen to my heart even when people say im wrong you were my hero

Then I hear him say we are going to go to the park because all of our church mates are have a Rugby league Practice.

Scruffy and Duffy
Today on this very cold day Glenbrae school rushed to Tamaki Collage for an awesome Duffy show. The show was called the best book in the world and so it was. There was a boy named Duffy and had a little brother named scruffy. Duffy went on a lot of adventures with the best book in the world but, Scruffy would not have it and he would try his hardest to scare the book. At the end of it Duffy read the book to Scruffy and signed the book. My favourite part in this play was when it was Emmy's Birthday because she was really happy about her present, she was crazy happy.

Drill, Drill, Drill
In this picture Phoenix is drilling a hole with a wooden drill. We all had a turn it was very hard for me because we has to balance the drill so that it was straight and tall. Tama was very good at drilling on his first try I thought it was very smart how they used this drill in the ancient times I was so fascinated.

Rock Warriors

The Rock Warriors
Retold by Danielle Azaria Mailata
Many many years ago, there lived two tribes on Ngongotaha Mountain. There were handsome and beautiful woman, gentlemen and children, but the other tribe were giants called Tipua people and they were smelly and yucky.
One day the Tipua warriors were planning to take over the Patupaiarehe people’s village. The people of the Patupaiarehe could feel thumping and so one of the people ran up to see what all the noise was and they saw that it was the giant warriors. The people ran to their leader so that he could help them because their leader knew how to use magic spells and he was very good at it.
The chief had a plan. He went to the top of the Ngongotaha mountain and made a fire and started to chant an old spell that he learnt when he was a kid. He did not know if this would work but he tried his hardest. When the Tipua Warriors stopped to have a rest they stood there too long and became stuck and their skin started to get stiff and hard and they soon realised that the spell had worked and they turned into rocks.
Some people say that on a sunny and cold day, they can hear the rock warriors moaning, probably because they are so uncomfortable from standing in the same spot for a very long time..

Monday 15 August 2012.
Many years ago Rata was wandering, and feeling very maudlin as he walked across the stream by the bank. He wanted to go find his father because he had died not so long ago, but Rata was not able to attend his funeral. Rata was thinking and thinking and suddenly he found himself in the forest. So Rata wandered around the forest looking for a big enough tree to make a waka for him to go get his father. Rata gave a sigh of relief because he remembered that there was a totara tree not far from where he lived. So Rata went to the totora tree and he cut it down and he cut of all the chips so it was nice and smooth.
Early the next morning, Rata was stunned with surprise because he could not see the tree that he had cut down and chipped, and there were no leaves or branches, nothing, it was bare. He was struck with wonder and he had no explanation of where the tree had gone. So he cut down the tree a second time. This time he carved it and made it hollow. It was smooth and it had no leaves or branches. When night fell he went home and had a rest.
The following morning the tree was gone. He felt like crying. He dropped onto his knees and felt very maudlin again. He was so determined to make this waka now, that he had made it hollow, and had smoothed it out and made sure it was tough and solid. When night fell he went home. Rata came back to see the if the Totora tree was still laying on the ground. He was amazed to see the birds and insects working together to fix the tree up. He was happy that now he knew what was happening to the tree. He could not help it but come out of the dark. The birds were silent and they all disappeared. He shouted “Okay I get it, I will never ever cut a tree again, I am so sorry”. A small voice said to him, “You can cut a tree but you will have to ask Tanemahuta, the god of the forest”.
The following morning he saw a waka and he said to himself, “Is this mine?”. A small voice said yes. From that day onwards he never ever forgot what these birds and Tane Mahuta did for him.

Costable Julie's Visit
Today Constable Julie came to Glenbrae School. She came to us from the police station. The reason for her visit was to teach us all about road safety. First, she talked to us in class and then we did an activity outside on the court that was all about distance. I really enjoyed the activity because we were practising how to estimate distance. This helped me to learn how to measure better and how to be safer on the road. It was very hard to estimate the right distance. I think that this visit helped me in all different areas of my learning.

Cultural Walk about
Today we had a cultural walk about we had a entire term of studies we had to study all about one of the students culture. My class learnt all about South Africa Alex was South African so that is why we learnt about that country. I learnt a lot of great facts that can help when I am a adult. When I went around in a rotation around my school I found out that in the Netherlands they were clog shoes so that there feet would not get wet. This is a great experience that I will never forget.

A Life Changing Experience
We are at Pac ‘n Save so that we can learn all about the different kind of foods to eat and not to eat. Ansley has been our instructor for the last two weeks. She taught us all about all of the sugar in fizzy drinks and how to read the nutrition guide.Ansley said to my group that we had to look at all the different good and bad snacks that we could not and should not eat. We had to choose two different snacks and then we would have to choose which one is better for us. I was very surprised to see all of the sugar, fat and salt in the snacks we eat daily because I thought there would be only a little because they don’t taste sugary. This was a life changing experience and I know I can eat healthier from now on.
This is a chart that shows you all of the energy and sugars so that people can know what they are buying and if you are trying to eat healthy this should be the second thing you check on the box. One some of the muesli bars or other products might have a red tick that is called the heart foundation tick that means that the heart foundation approve of the product and that means that that product is good for you to have everyday.
Fruitful Light, Light Muesli Nutrition Guide:
These is a very good example of a very good cereal to have in the morning because it has no fat total. This muesli cereal would be very light.

Tamaki College the time of my life
Yesterday we went to Tamaki College to do some sports with the students there it was like a physical assessment for the students at Tamaki. I had a blast with my group and instructors because they were fun and they didn't make us do hard stuff but some of it hurt because we played a game that involves two tyres. There were four people and two groups we had to use the two tyres to get to the other side of the grass with out touching the grass or the concrete. My job was to hop to the other side of the tyre so that the other team mates could stand on that tyre and Setefano had to hop with the other tyre so that we could take turns of having a rest. My team won and they said "we won!" because we worked like a team. I was very proud to be in their team.

Polyfest is just like Pasifika
I was as tired as a turtle trying to walk. Saturday was almost the best weekend I have ever had you know why because I went to the Polyfest the Polyfest is just like pasifika but the reason why they do Polyfest is so that all the students come together and have a big comp. Most of the day I just sat down under my old friends tent she is selling stake and egg, waterMelon and ice-cream and my most favourite poke poke is baked banana and coconut cream.
Before we went to the Cook Island Stage we went to the Tongan and Maori Stage when me and my mum went to the Tongan Stage no one was performing so went to the Maori Stage the Maori Stage was very very yuk because I don’t really like the trading clothing for boys it is almost nothing but the song they were singing was o.k. After we went to my Aunty Gina's in old pap so that my mum could get something filled out that was about 1 hour and a half after that we went to my Aunty Rosie’s that was about half an hour just to try on some dresses.

Our New School Song
Count On Me Lyrics
If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea,
I'll sail the world to find you
If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see,
I'll be the light to guide you
Find out what we're made of
When we are called to help our friends in need
(chorus)
You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah
Wooooh, Wooooh
yeah Yeah
If you toss and you turn and you just can't fall asleep
I'll sing a song
beside you
And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me
Everyday I will
remind you
Ohh
Find out what we're made of
When we are called to help our friends in need
(chorus)
You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
You'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah
Wooooh, Wooooh
Yeah Yeah
You'll always have my shoulder when you cry
I'll never let go
Never say goodbye
(chorus)
You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
You'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah
Wooooh, Wooooh
you can count on me cos' I can count on you

8/3/12 Rainy day My Diary
Today we went to the pools I was very tired and I felt like I was going to fall down (just joking ). It was really damp and cold, it was also raining that made it even worse. We had a new instructor because every Tuesday and Thursday the instructors change so they can have a break.
It was fun at the pools because we had a little race so that we could see who was the speediest team. Because our group are the best swimmers in the whole class. The highlighted words are adjectives.

🎄 christmas recount
Hooray today is the 25th of December 2011. Christmas day I did not get that many presents but I did get lots of money. I guess it’s the thought that counts. Today we went to our Aunty Gina’s. We had a massive barbecue. There was chicken, steak, sausages and lots of desserts such as ice-cream, chocolate log, cheese cake and chocolate cake. At the end of the night we watched lots of movies such as Breaking Dawn, Cars 2 and Red Dog. Finally we went home after the best Christmas I have ever had.
